PLAMONDON - COMMUNITIES

Francophone Culture

Nestled in a a secluded valley setting is the vibrant and unique Hamlet of Plamodnon. Located 30 km north east of Lac La Biche County, Plamondon is a community rich in culture and celebration, boasting one of Alberta's primary Francophone communities. Other ethnic influences to the community include Russian, Metis and Ukrainian culture.

Located near Lac La Biche lake, Plamondon offers an abundance of outdoor experiences and retreats. Camping and fishing in the summer months are very popular in the community, sprinkled with an unyielding community events calendar that includes everything from a Mini Nashville Jamboree 9postponed to 2009), to the adrenaline pumping Mud Bogs held the 3rd weekend in August. One of the highlights of this summer is Plamondon's Centennial Celebrations. 100 years of culture and history will be celebrated July 4th - 6th. Music, food, and culture will be the focus of this centennial commemoration. There will be a spectacular talent show and family dance featuring local artists, local tours, pioneer activities, lots of children's activities and a whole bunch more.

Visitors will find the Plamondon Cultural Museum a wonderful opportunity to learn about this unique communities' history and contribution to the continuance of the Francophones community in Alberta's Lakeland. Year round Plamondon offers visitors an abundance of activities, culture and history.
