The clean and friendly Town of Smoky Lake is located in the County of Smoky Lake #13, approximately 120 km northeast of Edmonton at the junction of Highway 28 and Secondary Highway 855. It is approximately one hour's drive from Edmonton's city limits.
The Town of Vegreville is located to the south; the Town of St. Paul to the east and the Town of Lac La Biche to the northeast.
This country paradise is surrounded by numerous lakes for fishing and recreational opportunities.
The North Saskatchewan River lies just south of the Town where one will find the Victoria District National Historic Site where lays the Metis Crossing; a cultural interpretive center complete with campsite, gift shop and zip line. There are large amounts of whitetail and mule deer, moose, bears and birds which make hunting an adventure. There are rolling hillsides and grain fields everywhere and lush boreal forests in the north which provide the perfect breeding ground for a wide variety of birds and game.
This area is a virtual playground for all motorized recreational machines throughout the entire year and has many natural areas for those nature buffs. The recent multi-use Iron Horse Trail provides non-stop adventure for both family and friends.
The Town is very clean and friendly and offers visitors abundant memories. Besides the lakes, we have an amazing golf course, walking/running/biking trails, newly renovated hotels/motels, the annual Great White North Pumpkin Fair and Weigh-off held first weekend in October, history, heritage and so much more.
Our town is truly a must-see with great volunteerism, multi-culturalism and sportmanship.
